Made time for 1 activation during our vacation while on Hafjell. This time Camilla came along. Nevelfjell is a short 1 hour walk, if you bring kids that is. The distance can be covered much faster if alone. Descent was a short 30 minute walk.

LA/AH-010 Operating position, originally uploaded by LB1GB.

LA/AH-010 Barlinderåsen is not very far from my home QTH. It’s a short 20 km drive. but you have to walk for about 1.5 hours to get to the top. Barlinderåsen(398m) is right next to the more known Ramstadslottet(394m) which offers a great view in almost all directions. The view from Barlinderåsen is more limited, but offers a valid SOTA.

It was a beautiful sunny day and the walk was great.

    Thanks for all the QSO’s.

  • OF-001 Linnekleppen

    Operating site, again

Yesterday I activated OF-001 Linnekleppen. The only summit in Østfold fylke. It rises 325 meters above sea level, but is only the second tallest summit.

The route I chose was 2.5 km which shouldn’t be so hard, but proved to be harder that anticipated. It’s somewhat hilly and goes through bog and dense forest which makes it quite a walk for an unfit ham operator.

I started my walk from Tiuren; Turn left to Dalen on R124 from Rakkestad, this is about 9 km from Rakkestad, and drive till there’s no more road(toll road when asphalt turns to gravel; kr.20,-). Entry path is about 50 m before you reach Tiuren. Be sure to wear water resistant boots!

On the summit you will find a couple of benches, a small doorless hut, trees to hang your antennas, and a fire tower. The fire tower on Linnekleppen is manned all summer.
