January 2008:

The original Titanex V80S 80m vertical antenna could not withstand the wind at our QTH. After repeated breakdowns and repairs, finally too much of the tubing was damaged.

The remaining of the antenna is now converted into a conventional quarter wave ground plane antenna. The radial systems remains the same as previously used on the 80m vertical.

The quarter wave vertical seems to operate not too bad, although it is not exactly a big gun antenna !
